The Story

This wine is named after Campo Bastiglia, where Ca' Rugate’s vineyard is located, nestled amongst the hills surrounding Montecchia di Crosara in the Valpolicella region of northern Italy. A blend of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes the wine is vinified from a combination of dried and undried grapes. The undried grapes were destemmed and fermented immediately after the harvest. The dried grapes were allowed to dry gently in well-ventilated rooms for approximately four to five months, concentrating the flavours, sweetness and colour. The dried grapes were added later; they were fermented in stainless steel for one week, prior to being pressed at the end of December. The wine was then transferred to small barrels to finish fermentation. It was then matured in wood for eight to 10 months. The Ca' Rugate 'Campo Bastiglia' Valpolicella Ripasso displays concentrated aromas of red fruit cherries with a hint of spice and floral notes. The palate is full bodied with soft tannins, an elegant silky texture and a velvety finish.[#intro]Award winning Valpolicella Ripasso with an elegant silky texture & a velvety finish...[/intro]
