The Story
The RAR Vins Singulars Essència is a red wine from the heart of Spain's Priorat region. Sourced from vines aged between 30 and 90 years old this is a blend dominated by the Garnacha grape alongside additions of Cariñena and Syrah. This is the personal project of Scala Dei’s winemaker Richard Rofes. The name RAR not only refers to the initials of Richard Rofes, but also means “rare” in Catalan. The rarity here refers to the winemaking style, which avoids the heavily oaked and extracted style of wines common to Priorat, in favour of a more elegant, fresh and fruit-driven expression.
